The world-renowned ADI Design Observatory has honoured Falmec with the distinguished ‘Compasso d’Oro’ Award for its unique Spazio extraction system hood, designed by Francesco Lucchese, now in its 26 th edition. The award recognises the impressive development of the company, by rewarding the excellence, care and dedication achieved in creating innovative solutions designed to improve the quality of our lives at home.
A honour and a satisfaction for Falmec to receive such a prestigious and historic award: it is valuable and meaningful recognition for many years of hard work and commitment by a really passionate and dedicated team, whose collective goal is continual improvement.
With this award, Spazio now joins the 300 plus other projects honoured in this historical collection, all awarded the ‘Compasso d’Oro’ over the last 60 years. Established in 1954, the Compasso d'Oro ADI Award is the oldest but above all the most influential world design award. Born from an idea of Gio Ponti, it was organized for years by the Rinascente department stores, with the aim of highlighting the value and quality of the new arising Italian design products. Subsequently it was donated to ADI which has been organizing it since 1958, monitoring its impartiality and integrity.
The Compasso d'Oro is awarded on the basis of a pre-selection made by the Permanent Design Observatory of ADI, consisting of a commission of experts, designers, critics, historians, specialized journalists, members of ADI or external to it, all are continuously committed to gathering information year after year and evaluating and selecting the best products which are lately published in the ADI Design Index yearbooks.
