Materials that tell a story by blending with modernity

29.10.2025

Materials, historicity and personality are the distinguishing notes of this remarkable building restoration.
It is a wide 3-level house located in Rome at the former site of a late 19th-century art academy. Its origin is precisely what characterizes it for some noticeable details both in the surface of the living room with a striking view of the garden and the height of the walls that reaches up to 8 meters.
The young owners wanted to recreate a comfortable environment that would fit their everyday life without sacrificing its soul.

The kitchen room, Falmec's favorite living area, is of particularly impressive impact thanks to the choice of Guatemalan green marble

An intense color with pronounced white veins and a solid, compact material used for the countertops and central island.
On the latter, a space of everyday life, the Polar extractor hood descends in a matte black finish.

A minimalist cylinder, which satisfies both the need to extract the air and to light the area with a focal point, remains suspended over the countertop looking at the panoramic induction hob for ideal cooking experience.

The overall result is extremely stylish and sophisticated, yet functional thanks to some linear elements with a more understated appeal such as the wood inserts on the walls and the black laminate furniture.

Some elements such as the plasters, stone stairs, and handrails of the common parts were retained in favor of a place lacking in color,
preferring MATERIALS, expressed in the use of wood, stone,
and sandy plasters, always around the natural and warm earth tones.

The living room, the heart of the entire apartment, looks like 'an art installation, which alternating two- and three-dimensional modules draws a precise balanced pattern decided together with the owners

'Enjoyable especially from the modular island sofa that allows one to admire the marble composition of the kitchen on the one hand, and on the other hand the installation designed for the large wall - intentionally and consciously exaggerated - is able, however, to draw bookshelf zones, closed containers or simply graphic signs'.
